Filming fun

I spent a week in Melbourne recently and decided to try filming on my camera. It was a bit of fun with a few beers in hand to help cope with the 35 degree weather. Unfortunately its not in HD but you learn from your mistakes. Im now saving for a handle for my 7D to make the filming a lot more steady. Plus learning to edit! Here is my first mini clip..

Twin Magazine/Urban Outfitters Launch, Berlin

It was a while ago now, but im not sure i ever posted about it. I was invited to Berlin to take photos at the Twin/Urban Outfitters party. Having to handle large amounts of free vodka, i managed to take some pictures. You can see them on the Twin Magazine website here.

Also if you haven't ever picked up Twin, you should definately pre order one of these guys before they sell out. They are a table top must and designed by my talented friend Jeff Knowles. Check them out here.

Lost film roll - Summer 2010

As I was cleaning out my room yesterday, I came across a used film roll still in my pentax camera. I was like a 5 year old on christmas with this in my sweaty palms, running down to get it developed and even paying extra for same day just to find out what awaits. Turns out it was from summer 2010, my trip to New York and a bit of London. Enjoy!

National Histroy Museum VS fashion in the environment

I recently did a shoot for Bethan Jones, a fashion designer finishing her MA in Fashion and the Environment. We managed to use the National History Museum in London for the location. All the materials are recycled and the cotton is locally sourced.

I first entered a skateboard competition at 14. Some awesome dude called Josh, looked at my old busted skateboard and gave me a brand new Chocolate board with an Evan Hecox graphic, from the car series. I was so stoked to say the least. Typography is everywhere. Sometimes it has been thought about for hours regarding font, colour, paper gsm, audience, point, pica etc. However sometimes it has just been thrown together in a matter of minutes and printed out on an ink jet office printer with no meaning whatsoever, other than the letters itself for a once over read and then disposed.
I find something intriguing about public warnings through typography. Was there thought behind those letters by a fancy designer on a swizzle chair? Who was it aimed at? Was it meant to be read once then disposed? Was I supposed to read that? Or was it just an angry park manager wanting you to put your trash in the bin?

Girls Monthly is a new skate event to encourage girls that wanna or do ride skateboards to come hang out, skate, eat and chill together at a random location in the UK.

Small Soho

There is something particularly attractive upon a small empty green park bursting with end of winter/start of spring growth in the middle of dirty gray Soho.  Its like everything else is moving super fast, yet this tiny park is timeless. I tend to come here at lunch time and escape everything and everyone.

I am very lucky to have such a lovely Aunty and Uncle, who invited me to stay at their place, in France. It is located about half an hours drive from Cahors, South of France. It's a beautiful place, full of friendly people and far enough away from tourists, I think I want to stay. I don't know how to get my film devoloped here, so as soon as I arrive back in London, more photos will follow. P.s - If you didn't already know, I have a slight obsession with Architecture.

After we downed a sufficiant amount of salmon benedict at a local Napier hot spot, we were suprised at just how fresh it tasted and decided to take it one step further and work out how fresh is fresh. As we headed down to the dock, some cute fisherman boy and his father were unloading a recent load. Well, we were impressed.

Wellington, again. I love it down there. This was 2 days with friends, food, and a fish eye film camera. Oh and I forgot, curry, red wine and trollys should not used in the same night. Lesson 1, learnt.

The recession causes many things to shut down, and fortuantly for skateboarders, this causes a heaps of abandoned constuction to form a concrete playground. This one spot, at an adandoned car salesyard, had just that. So we attacked it one silent night with Mikey Bancroft to get the job done.
